“There was always a stigma that I can’t box. I’m a big, stiff bodybuilder. So I said, ‘Cool, let me practice my boxing.’ I tried practicing my boxing with Oleksandr Usyk. He won 9 rounds, I won 3. Next fight, I win 4 more rounds, I win.” – Anthony Joshua told SkySports
“When I lost the first time, I never made excuses, but I had my reasons and I knew I would get it back. This one hurt because I was 100%, no problems. I just lost to the better man and it hurt. But it gave me motivation. I’ll redeem myself.”
Can Anthony Joshua win a Usyk rematch by attempting to outbox him..?? Or does he need to change up his game plan to achieve victory over the Ukrainian and to reclaim the world titles
My two cents… I think Joshua needs to mix it up in the rematch against Usyk – some boxing, slip & slide, some rough house tactics clinching etc, lots body body punches as it’s the biggest target and throw in a few dirty tricks, it’s a fight and he’s gotta do all it takes to reclaim the crowns he once had – but that’s all easier said than done against Usyk, who’s a highly intelligent & skilled operator.
The rematch will be fascinating, because it will be interesting to see what game plan AJ brings to the table, and how Usyk adapts to the fight Joshua brings.
