Devin Haney vs Jorge Linares Fight Agreed for May 15th
WBC lightweight world champion Devin Haney and former champion Jorge Linares have agreed terms to fight as a headline event on a Matchroom / DAZN card on May 15th, with a venue TBC.
Linares (47-5, 29 KOs) has won world titles in three weight divisions: featherweight, junior lightweight, and lightweight, while Devin Haney is undefeated (25, 15 KOs) and became world champion after being promoted from WBC interim to full champion status.
This was due to Lomachenko choosing to fight Teofimo Lopez in a unification bout, and he was promoted to franchise champion by the WBC.

Haney needs a breakthrough fight to get his name in the mainstream and minds of boxing fans, as his rivals are very much so. Ryan Garcia, Teofimo Lopez, Gervonta Davis, and Lomachenko are high-profile names in a stacked lightweight division.
For Linares, this presents an opportunity for him to become a world champion again and secure big payday fights with the names stated above.
