Chris Eubank Jr questions British rival Billy Joe Saunders’ orbit injury that he suffered versus Canelo. Eubank believes Saunders quit and called out the former two weight world champion for a rematch
“He took that fight cos he wanted the money, he was the sacrificial lamb. So I fight with me is the same thing, he’s gonna get a serious amount of money, so I would expect that he would take that fight”
“There is no recovery, the guy is perfectly fine, he quit, got a black eye, he didn’t want it anymore with canelo”
“There was no smashed orbital bone, no broken eye socket… he swallowed it and gave up. That’s why he’s been mia (missing in action) the pass few months cos of the shame of what he did”
“If that was the truth (eye injury), there would’ve been doctors’ reports, pictures. The guy was driving around in his car a week later with sunglasses on. We’re not sheep. No, he quit.” Eubank told IFL TV
Billy Joe Saunders and Chris Eubank Jr fought one another in November 2014, in what was a big British domestic clash. The fight was highly entertaining with Saunders winning the early rounds with his boxing skills but Eubank Jr came on strong in the latter rounds.
Saunders won a slipt decison victory over 12 rounds and retained his European, British and Commomwealth middleweight titles.
