Jacobs Wins Close 12 Round Dull Split Decision Over Rosado
Daniel Jacobs wins a close 12 round unentertaining split decision against Gabriel Rosado at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Florida. The judges scorecards were; 115-113, 115-113 ro4 Jacobs and 115-113 for Rosado.
In the post-fight interview, Jacobs said ‘I don’t think I had the best performance. I didn’t think it was that close. I thought it was a boxing sparring match inside the ring. It was wired without the fans’
Rosado, who was visibly disappointed with the judges decisions, said ‘I out boxed him, I out jabbed him. I caught him off guard. He landed more shots against Canelo and GGG. He was as surprised as I was (judges’ scorecards). This guy went to battle with Canelo and GG. When it was time to exchange, he didn’t want to’
‘He was the one that was clinching. Since 2014, I haven’t been cut. I thought I’ll let him get emotional and I’ll use that against him. I’m a veteran, it’s a shame. I don’t know why they didn’t give me the decision. I applied pressure when I had to. I thought I won today’ Rosado added.
The lackluster fight failed to spark into life and Jacobs fought in a cautious manner at times. This performance from Jacobs will do him no favors in securing fights with top super-middleweights and after such a display, fans won’t be eager to see him in the ring any time soon. Jacobs is a top fighter, and has fought elite fighters such as Canelo and Golovkin but he will need to sparkle in future fights in order to bag another world title shot.
