The first champion born in the new millennium of 2000’s is Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez as he drops and out points Carlos Cuadras to win the WBC super flyweight title. In doing so, Rodriguez becomes the youngest current boxing champion.
Rodriguez let’s not forget took the fight on six days notice and in a new weight division.
Unfortunately for Carlos Cuadras, this is his second straight defeat after trading knockdowns with Juan Francisco Estrada in their rematch in October last year, but he lost the bout via a eleventh round stoppage.
Tonight, Rodriguez scored the only knockdown of the fight early in round three and won the title on the judges scorecards which were: Barry Lindenman (115-112), Steve Morrow (117-110) and Dennis O’Connell (117-110) – to win the vacant WBC super flyweight world title.
