In an entertaining fight night, Keith Thurman defeats Mario Barrios via unanimous decision and the judges scorecards were: 118-110, 117-111 and 118-110. Keith “One Time” Thurman marked his return to the ring by defeating former world champion Mario “El Azteca” Barrios and 2019 was the last time Thurman was inside in squared circle. That last outing was a defeat against boxing legend Manny Pacquiao who won Thurman’s WBA world title at the time.
Thurman looked sharp early on in the fight and he appeared to hurt Barrios at times but Keith did fade as the fight drew into the latter rounds. Thurman displayed his heavy hands and the skills which made him a once unified welterweight world champion.
In the post-fight interview, Thurman said – “This was a comeback fight after two and a half years away. I wish I had my best performance, but I did the best I could under the circumstances. I grade this performance a C+ or B- for myself”
”We rocked him. We weren’t able to put him down and out, but we had a great performance and a great fight. I want the belts. I want the champions. I want to be back on top, so whoever is willing to send Keith Thurman the contract, let’s go!”
Is Thurman ready for a title shot and who would you like to see him fight next
