Bob Arum is due to sit down the Vasily Lomachenko in the new year to discuss the path forward for the Ukrainian following his defeat to Teofimo Lopez. Lomachenko still requires time to recover from the surgery to repair his right shoulder and no fights can be agreed until he has fully healed.
The Ukrainian is keen on an immediate rematch with Lopez but he appears to be more interested in an IBF mandatory defence against Geroge Kambosos Jr.
There are a number of boxers whom Lomachenko could face next, such as Shakur Stevenson, Oscar Valdez, Gervonta Davis, Devin Haney, Ryan Garcia, Miguel Berchelt, Jamel Herring or Joseph Diaz Jr.
When asked about his plans for Lomachenko during an interview with IFL TV, Bob Arum replied ‘We have to let Loma’s shoulder heal. He had another operation on his shoulder, and sometime after the beginning of the year, I’m going to talk with him and see what he wants to do’
‘Does he want to stay at 135? Does he want to go down to 130, which he has no problem making? We have the Berchelt – Valdez winner and we have Shakur Stevenson’ continued Arum
‘We (Top Rank) have a whole great stable of 130-pounders or he can stay at 135, and we can put him in with one of the young guns, Haney or Tank Davis would be a good fight. So we’ll see. I have to see what Loma wants to do next year’
