Mike Tyson is not impressed with the manner in which Deontay Wilder handed defeat at the fists of Tyson Fury and the comments he made post fight. Speaking on Instagram Live to rapper Fat Joe, Iron Mike had some words of advice for Wilder if he wishes to defeat Fury in a trilogy fight, by telling the Bronze Bomber to ‘grow up,’ – ‘stop feeling sorry for yourself’ and ‘dedicate your life to winning the third fight.’
In February, Deontay Wilder lost his unbeaten record and WBC heavyweight world title when he was completely out boxed and TKO’d by the self-proclaimed Gypsy King. The rematch followed a controversial draw between the two men which many believed Tyson Fury won over a year ago. Below are some of the words Mike Tyson had to say to Wilder and about a potential trilogy fight.
“[Wilder] feels like giving up: ‘Oh, my life is over. I’ve made $90million dollars. My life is over. Oh God, I want to die.’ Grow up,”
“Keep going through it until it’s really over.
“Wilder can still make a lot of money. He shouldn’t feel sad or discouraged. And he should continue to go out there and fight with a lot of zest and confidence.”
“The first fight, [Wilder] fought with confidence like he could win. In this fight, he fought like he didn’t have no zest, no life in him. I don’t think he was the same fighter after the first fight.
“After the first fight, [Wilder] couldn’t rise to the occasion again.
“Something went wrong with Wilder during the second fight with Fury, and he never did adjust.
“If Wilder can’t fix the mistakes he made in his rematch with Fury, then he’s not going to last long in the third fight.
