Former undisputed cruiserweight champion Oleksandr Usyk has no plans on stepping aside for Anthony Joshua to fight Tyson Fury next, and wants his WBO mandatory position to be fulfilled.
Usyk’s manager is very clear on the Ukrainian’s desire to fight Anthony Joshua for his WBO, WBA and IBF world titles. Should Uysk beat Dereck Chisora next, the aim is to become a two weight world champion by beating Anthony Joshua.
‘’Usyk has been the WBO mandatory challenger for more than one year. He has agreed to let AJ versus Pulev happen, with regards that the winner fights him next” Uysk’s manager Krassyuk told Sky Sports
“Our plan is A) beat Derek Chisora B) push AJ to comply with WBO rules or vacate the title C) defeat AJ (or any other WBO champion or contender and become the heavyweight champion. Simple and practical.”
“According to our latest talks with Eddie, Usyk vs Chisora has to go at the end of October – We intend on making it happen.”
