Shakur Stevenson Calls Out Oscar Valdez For Super-Featherweight Unification Fight After Jamel Herring Victory
Young American boxing superstar Shakur Stevenson stopped Jamel Herring inside 10 rounds to become the new WBO Super-Featherweight world champion. Stevenson becomes a two weight world champion at the tender age of 24 after beating a Jamel Herring who was defending his world title for the fifth time.
On Saturday night Stevenson announced himself to the American boxing public with a brilliant performance that overwhelmed Herring at times due to his spiteful intelligent punching. Stevenson was precise with his combination punches and he dominated Herring from the very first round.

Stevenson began to hurt Herring from early in the fight and he pressed the action with a fast solid jabs and powerful hooks. Herring looked hurt in the fifth and sixth rounds, and by round nine Stevenson was bombarding Herring with a variety of punches. At this point Herring had visble damage to his eyes.
The tenth round saw the referee decided to wave off the fight, as Stevenson was connecting punches to Herring face with ease. The TopRank young prospect and the American Olympic silver medallist star won the biggest fight of his career.

Stevenson is now a two weight world champion and extended his unbeaten record to 17 wins with 9 KO’s. In the post-fight interview, Stevenson called out fellow super-featherweight champion Oscar Valdez for a unification bout (WBO & WBC) and was keen on for that fight to happen next:
“There’s only one fight left, the biggest fight in the division. Oscar (Valdez) can’t keep ducking! It’s time to fight!”
