The WBO Welterweight champion Terence Crawford says negotiations have taken place between his team and Manny Pacquiao team but he concerned that PBC, Premier Boxing Champions, will prevent a fight deal from being reached.
Crawford is considered as one of the top pound for pound fighters in boxing today and Manny Pacquiao is no doubt a future hall of famer of boxing. A clash between the two stars of boxing would be a test for both boxers; can Crawford beat a legend of the welterweight division or can Pacquiao continue his championship reign at the top level of boxing.
‘’My next fight should be Pacquiao, we’re in talks with his team Pacquiao and I’ve been hoping that fight can get made. So if we can get that fight secured and signed, then hopefully that can be our next fight’’ Crawford told the Brian Custer Last Stand podcast.
Another fight many fans have called for, is a clash with fellow welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr but again, boxing politics and different promotional teams appear to be the main obstacle to this fight being made. Both Crawford and Spence Jr are undefeated and each have a world title in the welterweight division. Errol Spence Jr, Manny Pacquiao, Danny Garcia and Shawn Porter fight under the PBC banner and Crawford believes these names are being held back from fighting him. Crawford believes PBC keeps fights in house, rather than against fight boxers from other promotional teams.
‘’They didn’t want to put them in the ring with me because they didn’t want to have Top Rank have the edge over their head where one of their fighter took out one of their top welterweights fighters. They (PBC) just fight each other’’
